The world's newest battle royale game, Apex Legends, has now become a venue to earn a scholarship. Becker College has partnered with Team Genji and Helix Esports in the creation of the scholarship program tied to the Apex Legends amateur tournament that will be held by Helix.
Set to happen in early April in New Jersey, Team Genji will be on-site to perform analytics. For those who join the tournament, top-performing players have a chance to receive $5,000 for schooling. And for those who applied and were accepted into Becker College, they can claim the one-time scholarship. Even if players didn't make the cut, eligible finalists will be invited to apply.
More than gaining a scholarship, recipients will also be given a tryout for Becker's own Apex Legends team. Tryouts will begin in Fall 2019 with more details and sign-up information to be found on the official website.
In other news, the first Apex Legends battle is said to be launched around March, though Respawn has made no confirmation. There was, however, a sneak peek and an accidental update to the Origin site. It was confirmed that the leak was legitimate, though Respawn warned against putting too much stock in information gleaned from data mining.
