Respawn bans 16,000 cheaters from Apex Legends

Cheaters crop up in every battle royale game to get the upper hand. Overnight sensation Apex Legends is no different. Thankfully, Respawn booted out 16,000 players since the game's launch for cheating their way to the top.

Cheaters never prosper, and Apex Legends moderators will be swinging the hammer hard on those who refuse to play fair.

Respawn announced in an update on the Apex Legends subreddit that, as of Friday, they have banned 16,000 players from Apex Legends since the game's launch. The game currently doesn't have a report feature in place, but they said that it's a good idea for the developers to patch the game up with said feature based on the requests they've received from players. Until then, players have to screencap or videotape evidence of the offender and report them to the game's support site. "Even if you don't get proof, get their ID and flag it and investigate the account," Respawn said.

Respawn also said that they're focusing on fixing crashes within Apex Legends, which is to be expected considering the sudden popularity the game has gained. "As you can imagine, when you drop a game out of nowhere and 25 million people show up within the first week, there's going to be all kinds of issues, bugs, exploits, etc. discovered," they said.

A new patch is due out sometime this week, but details of what the patch actually entails haven't been disclosed.
