The Final Station Survival Tips & Tricks

Introduction

The world of The Final Station is cruel and unforgiving, giving very little and taking everything. Survival is the name of the game, and that can be a tricky request when you have limited supplies and ammo. Hopefully with this guide you will be able to better navigate the mazes of enemies and death, and get back to your passengers with enough supplies to keep them alive too.

Look for Sparks

While traveling on the train, you will need to maintain both your passengers and the train itself. There are several parts on the train that can start to break down. If a part starts to break down, it draws in more power, and the vents to the passenger car turn off, killing your passengers. Luckily, you only need to be aware of one train part per trip. The part of the train that is throwing off sparks is the one, and only one (for that trip), that will need maintenance. The rest you can ignore.

An Empty Stomach Leads to an Early Grave

While diminishing health can lead to death, and thus no payday, hunger is far less pressing to keep an eye on. However, it shouldn’t be completely ignored. When a passenger’s hunger meter is depleted, they will show a drumstick icon below their character. This means they are starving, and when they are starving their health will start to drop as if they were bleeding.

Shoot Runners, Exploders, and Soldiers – Punch the Rest

Bullets are a precious commodity in The Final Station, and you don’t want to waste a single one. Aside from trying to go for headshots whenever possible, you also want to be smart with who you shoot. The short runners can be punched, if you back up while doing it, but if you don’t have enough space behind you then they can easily overwhelm you, so feel free to pop a bullet or two into them.

Exploders, characterized by the smoke coming off of them, are the last enemy you want to punch (unless you can quickly go up a ladder to avoid the explosion). Shoot them in the head to initiate a quicker explosion and hopefully take out a few baddies with it. Finally, Soldiers (i.e. the ones wearing body armor) should be shot, but only after you knock of their helmet with a punch. I’m not sure if they can be defeated with punches alone, but if they can then it takes too long for it to be worth it. Every other enemy should be taken out with a swift charged punch followed by immediately backing up. The standard sized enemies go down after one charged punch. The taller ones take a few more hits than that, but so long as you back up after each punch, you should be fine.

Prepare Your Falcon Punch

You won’t know what’s in a room until you open the door or climb up/down the ladder into the room. The best way to enter a room is with a charged punch ready to release. You can hold a charge indefinitely, so keep it held and open the door, then be ready to unleash the rage on any hapless monster.

Back, Punch, Back, Punch, etc.

Bullets are limited, but punches are free. When punching an enemy to death, you don’t want to stand still, because that just lets them unleash their own flurry of punches. Instead you want to punch, then back up, then punch, then back up, and repeat until successful. This should be a constant pattern when punching the runners, but you can take things a bit slower against the rest.

Stack Attack!

One of the best ways to conserve ammo is to fire when two or more enemies are stacked on top of each other. Any damage dealt to one is dealt to all within that stack. This also holds true for punches, so if you can get two enemies together like that and then unleash a charged punch, you can take out several enemies at once!

Know When to Turn Back

While exploration leads to more supplies, it can also lead to more enemies. Keep an eye on your first aid supply, and keep in mind how many bleeding passengers you have as they will need those med kits too. If your ammo and/or health kits are running low, consider avoiding unnecessary routes and scope out your surroundings to see how, if possible, you can avoid engaging the enemy.
