Metal Gear Solid publishers Konami have today finally revealed the release date for the upcoming project Metal Gear Survive, and the pre-order incentives for early purchasers of this new venture.
After first being revealed at Gamescom 2016, Metal Gear Survive has received a negative reception from fans, being criticized for what is perceived to be generic gameplay, a lack of innovation, and the publisher's previous treatment of video game legend Hideo Kojima. Konami are pushing forth nontheless, today showing off new promo images of the game, and finally giving gamers the release date of the game and the pre-order bonuses.
Metal Gear Survive is slated for release on the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam on February 20th 2018 for North America, and the 22nd of February 2018, for Europe, at the price point of £34.99/€39.99, with the NA pricing not yet shown.
The pre-order incentives for early purchasers of the latest installment of the famous Metal Gear franchise are plentiful, though there is sure to be debate about the worth of these items. Pre-order purchasers of the game will get access to the Day 1 Survival Pack Bonus, which contains the following:
- Four Gold-plated weapons: Bat, Sledgehammer, Survival Machete, and Survival Spear
- Four Metallic survival scarves: Green, Blue, Pink, and Silver
- Two Gestures: Thumbs up, and Happy
- Mother Base Nameplate
- BOXMAN [THE ORANGE] accessory
- Kabuki face paint
With today's announcement, Konami has proven that they will continue to press on with the coming release of Metal Gear Survive despite fan criticism, but only time will tell if fan and critic predictions on the future of this project will ring true.
Metal Gear Survive releases on February 20th & 22nd 2018 for NA & Europe respectively.
