“So start caring, bitch,” Terry Crews responded online when Twitter user a_toxic_penguin said “nobody would care about Crackdown 3 if it didn’t have Terry Crews.” Both Microsoft marketing head Aaron Greenberg and the official Crackdown 3 Twitter threw in memes in support of Crews’s response.
After Crews retweeted a_toxic_penguin, the Twitter user changed his name to “buy crackdown 3.” He also changed his author description after his brief life-changing experience with Terry Crews on Twitter: “Please buy crackdown 3, Terry Crews will haunt me if you don’t.”
The Twitter user later clarified that he doesn’t hate the game and he feels honored to have been quoted by Crews. “Not tryna say Crackdown 3 is gonna be bad, quite the contrary. I like destruction and stuff, but Terry alone probably quadrupled its appeal.”
In Crackdown 3, Crews takes the role of Commander Jaxon, one of the leaders of The Agency’s strike force. Jaxon is a playable character in the game. Due to Crews’s portrayal of the character, the game developers decided to add an exclusive level 6 suit to illustrate his strength.
“After working with Terry, we all kinda’ huddled together and we were like ‘it’s not enough,’” game developers told IGN in an interview. “Terry is more than a level 5. We need a Terry level 6 suit.”
Terry Crews also performed motion capture performance for the Crackdown 3 E3 2017 trailer: “For the live-action piece we built a stage for him that was elevated and we had pads below it. At a certain point, he jumped off of it. He had to jump off for one of the shots.”
