Sega Unveils Sega Forever
Sega teased a couple of weeks ago that it would be bringing its classic games to mobile for free soon. Recently, we just received an additional update that announces the start of the "Sega Forever" initiative. As of yesterday, gamers on mobile can download a number of Sega Genesis titles completely for free. The catch, however, is that the free version includes advertisements after completing levels or starting the game. In order to get an advertisement-free version, you can pay $2.99 USD. The initial line-up currently available includes:

Sonic the Hedgehog
Altered Beast
Phantasy Star II
Kid Chameleon
Comix Zone

Sega has promised to roll out every two weeks additional titles coming from "nearly every Sega game ever released from every console era." The games will allow you to save via cloud, will include leaderboards and Bluetooth controller support. The initiative definitely seems to be very ambitious. Sega's western Mobile Division CMO Mike Evans included a press release explaining "Sega Forever,"

Above all SEGA Forever is a celebration of nostalgia. It's about allowing fans to reconnect with past experiences and share them with family and friends in an accessible and convenient way. Join us on a journey of rediscovery as we roll two decades of classic games free on mobile. Create your own 'SEGA Forever folder' and collect your favorite classics. Enjoy moments of nostalgia on the go, or sync a Bluetooth controller to enjoy a console-like experience in your living room. SEGA Forever democratizes retro gaming, and seeks to change how the world plays, rediscovers, and shares in classic game experiences.
