Shadow of the Colossus Confirmed As A Remake
Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida recently had an interview with Famitsu regarding the new upcoming Shadow of the Colossus for PS4. Yoshida confirmed that the game is a remake rather than a remaster. Apparently, it's not just a graphical improvement but rather, all the game's assets are being remade by Bluepoint Games. This is what the Sony boss had to say,

It is a remake. The game content is the same as the original version, but all the assets are being remade. I figured we could use such tech to make if we're going to make Shadow of the Colossus in the PS4 era. Bluepoint is the development company behind the PS3 remaster versions of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. So we know them rather well.

[The content is the same as the PS2 version], but player preferences for controls and such change over time, so we're working on implementing a more modernized way to play. And of course you can play with a feel of the original version, but what we're doing is showing how great the original work is, using today's technology. [Lead Designer Fumito Ueda] wasn't that involved much this time.

The Shadow of the Colossus Remake is expected to release in 2018 at some point. Based on the input from Yoshida it looks like the game will have the exact same content. However, the graphics and controls are being re-built from the ground up. Be sure to check out this useful YouTube video from Cycu1 that compares the PS3 and upcoming PS4 versions of the game.
