Square Enix just announced an upcoming Final Fantasy game coming early 2018. It is none other than a brand new Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. The game is being developed by Team Ninja and will be published by Square Enix. It is going to be the first entry in the Dissidia franchise to come to consoles as the previous ones all released on Sony's PSP many years ago. Furthermore,  it appears that the game will be a PS4 exclusive as of right now since no other platforms were listed. Check out the reveal trailer just below.

Here is a description of the upcoming team-based brawler from Square Enix's website:

Combining seamless gameplay, Final Fantasy characters and breathtaking worlds from the past 30 years of the franchise, DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT welcomes all gamers to the online battle arena with its renowned bravery combat system.

DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT allows you to choose from over 20 legendary FINAL FANTASY character and battle in a 3-versus-3 arena. Each match will allow the player to call forth familiar summons like Ifrit, Shiva and Odin to dominate the opposing side or turn the tide of the battle. This is not your average fighter – this is your fantasy, your fight

Similar to the previous entries in the Dissidia franchise, you will receive experience points and money after each fight that will allow you to acquire new skills and further customize your character. The game will feature the series' trademark "bravery system" that allows to unleash critical HP attacks after you garner sufficient bravery points during combat. This is yet another surprising reveal just days before gaming's most important trade show. Perhaps the game will be featured on Sony's presser with a more concrete release date for early 2018.

20 characters? As a crossover final fantasy fighting game, that seems kinda low. I get the feeling the previous Dissidia games got more than that.
