The Heavenly Sword developer decided to give us some new information on their upcoming game Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice just before E3. Ninja Theory was happy to announce that the game will be coming to both the PS4 and PC on August 8th, 2017. They also made sure to highlight that the game will not have a physical release so it will be available only digitally. Most surprisingly though was their announcement that the price for the game will be just $29.99 USD. Pre-orders are starting today and will award a bonus PS4 Dynamic Theme for those that purchase games on the PSN. Here is a brand new trailer to celebrate the breaking news.
As the U.K. developers say in the end of the video, once again this game will see only a digital release on the aforementioned platforms. Furthermore, they also revealed that the game is an independently developed mid-sized AAA game that was made by a team of just 20 people. That itself would explain why the game would cost half of what most AAA games cost. However, that in itself raises some questions as to the length of the game and overall value proposition. Let us hope that this third-person linear action game does not disappoint quality wise. To their credit, all of the footage shown from the game so far does show a new take on third-person sword combat as well as a deep focus on story. You play as Senua from a Celtic warrior clan that is journeying into the Viking underworld of Hel. We will soon find out how her journey ends as the game releases just in about 2 months from now.
