An ad by an anonymous company was recently posted on Japanese job recruitment site ECareerFA recently, indicating that a 2D artist is needed for a "super-famous RPG series."
Tasked with creating the image of “a certain RPG’s numbered title”, he or she will work on the concept art of towns, fields, dungeons, background props like furniture and emblems, vehicles, weapons, items, and map icons.
The potential hire should also be able to design by putting the world view as his or her priority. Seeing as how a large amount of concept art is needed, this appears to be a game in the concept, pre-production or very early production phase.
Hints indicative of this anonymous company being Square Enix are as follows: it’s described as having created “huge RPGs” and having launched online games, has a digital entertainment business that provides “high quality games with unique world views”, has delivered “a large number of million-sellers”, has an amusement business based focused on the Taito Station arcades (Taito is owned by Square Enix), has a publishing business for manga, and has a licensing business.
The company is also described as in Tokyo, one minute from the Higashi-Shinjuku station of the Oedo Line and Fukutoshin line, eight minutes from the main Shinjuku Station, and eight minutes from the Shunjuku Sanchome station of the Marunouchi and Fukutoshin line, which fits Square Enix's headquarters location exactly.
Though this remains speculation for now, this job listing could point out that Square Enix is indeed already working on the next installment in the Final Fantasy series. No confirmation has been made yet, but it could be very possible.
