New MLG division has been Formed by Blizzard INC to Oversee all Overwatch Esports, which will different from the original Blizzard division. This will help the existing Division run more smoothly with less hiccups that have happened in earlier stages in Blizzards history.
The new Division, which will retain the MLG name, will operate the MLG-Branded media network, which will broadcast both Blizzard and Activision as well as other premium gaming. It will also handle league management, team control, advertisement, and so much more. Other Blizzard related games, StarCraft II, World of Warcraft, etc., will continue to be on Blizzard's regular division. However, the Overwatch division will be beneficial in aiding additional revenue and publicity.
Shortly after the acquisition of MLG, Activision Blizzard's Bobby Kotick set long-term expectations of broadcast revenues comparable to those in the NFL and the Premier League. That ideal is still some way off, of course, but last November Blizzard outlined a detailed plan for the Overwatch League that emphasised "long-term stability."
It seems Blizzard is giving its all for Overwatch, and its not a surprise. With Overwatch becoming a multi-billion-dollar property, it has enough resources to take some risks. And with the amount of revenue only increasing as the year goes on. It’s the perfect time for Blizzard to be just a little risky.
Whether it’s worth it or not we can be sure that Blizzard has a lot in-store for us gamers.
