Pokemon GO developers Niantic have today announced they're adding over 80 new Pokemon to the smash hit mobile game. These Pokemon are able to be caught all over the world and include iconic creatures such as Cyndaquil, Totodile, Chikorita and more!

Over 80 Pokemon added to Pokemon Go!
Its no secret that Pokemon GO isn't as popular as it once was in its glory days, but developers Niantic seem keen to change that with their latest update likely to draw back previous players. The devs have added over 80 additional Pokemon that can be caught worldwide, which include creatures originally discovered in Johto from Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver. Trainers will be able to capture these new Pokemon in the wild on their adventures.

Along with the new Pokemon ready to be caught, this update adds new gameplay mechanics that trainers can master. These include new encounters, two new berry types, new Evolution items, and an expanded outfit and accessory options for their avatars. The new evolution items will allow players to evolve their Pokemon into some of those originally discovered in Johto. The new berry types offer some interesting options for trainers too. The Nanab Berry slows a Pokemon's movements, and the Pinap berry doubles the amount of Candy received if the next catch attempt is a successful one. These berries will be acquired by catching Pokemon out in the wild.

John Hanke, founder and CEO of Niantic Inc had this to say:
Today is a momentous occasion for Pokémon GO as we welcome more Pokémon and build upon the encounter and capture mechanics for the passionate global community of Trainers playing the game. Pokémon GO is a live experience which we’ll be continuing to support and evolve in new and interesting ways for years to come.
The future is looking a bit bright for Pokemon GO, and whilst it may never reach the dizzying heights it originally did, Niantic are definitely looking to offer new and fresh content to existing, previous, and new players in the future.
