Figures released by VGChartz today show that Sony's PlayStation Vita has outsold Nintendo's Wii U worldwide.
With 14.30 million units sold compared to 13.36 million, it's no secret that both pieces of hardware have been struggling since they were first released. Despite Sony not actively supporting its handheld since last year, however, the Vita still enjoys third-party support and has a healthy amount of physical releases in the West to this day. In contrast, the Wii U only has two titles coming out this year (Paper Mario: Color Splash and Skylanders Imaginators).
The next iteration of Nintendo hardware releases this March and is codenamed the Nintendo NX. There are currently no plans for another portable PlayStation device.
