Montreal, September 19th, 2016Montreal International Game Summit – MIGS16 welcomes as its opening keynote: Gaming’s Gold Rush by Adam Boyes, a key figure in the video game industry and CEO of Iron Galaxy Studios. Previously at Sony Interactive Entertainment America, Midway Games, and Capcom, Boyes will share his extremely valuable views on how record-breaking console sales, VR & AR’s emergence & proliferation of PC gaming has led to the Golden Age of Game Development.

The largest technical conference on the American East Coast also announces its official program, which will take place next November 13th to 15th at the Palais des congrès de Montréal. Its program addresses a large scale of themes and issues of the video game industry worldwide such as VR/AR, eSports, streaming, influencer marketing and Indie success stories. MIGS16 is also proud to present renowned expert headliners for each conference track:

  •          Design – Matthew Gallant (Naughty Dog) on his combat design and AI work on Uncharted 4
  •          Production and project management – Thomas Puha (Remedy Entertainment) on the Making of Quantum Break
  •          Business and marketing – Sarah Wick (Revelmode) on the impact of influencers and YouTubers
  •          Visual Arts – Atanas Raykov (Rocksteady) on the challenges in developing UI for VR
  •          Audio – RJ Mattingly (Popcap) on how to make the sharpest tools and automated processes
  •          Programming and technology – Anna Kipnis (Double Fine) on how to approach writing dynamic dialog systems

One of the largest video game hubs worldwide

Montreal, and the province of Quebec, is home to more than 10,000 developers and industry professionals, making it one of the largest video games industry hubs in the world. It is one of MIGS main missions to tap into this creative hub to facilitate a unique and exclusive access to high-level experts of the industry for its 3000+ attendees.

With multiple conference tracks, master classes with world-renowned experts, a Technical Lounge and Expo Zone, MIGS is designed with personal interaction in mind between experts, senior and junior professionals.

Since last year’s master class roaring success, MIGS16 will for the second year welcome top industry profiles such as Alex McDowell (5D Global Studio) and Krzysztof Lipka (CD PROJEKT RED). Once again this year, the master classes will be presented by TECHNO Compétences.

For the very first time this year, MIGS hosts the Video Game Bar Association (VGBA) and their Summit on Games Business and Legal Affairs, the definitive conference for international practitioners of interactive entertainment law. MIGS is co-presented by the Canada Media Fund, an essential support for innovation in the industry of Canadian production.
