To the surprise of many, the company Nordic Games announced today that it would be reincorporating under a new name – THQ Nordic. This move, Nordic claimed in a press release, was made out of recognition for the many THQ intellectual properties they have owned since THQ's closure in 2013.
Nordic went on to emphasize their care and concern for the IPs at their disposal, stating:
"We cherish them, and align them with the very best development resources to expand upon them with the level of experience that communities and established fan bases expect and deserve."
At this time, THQ Nordic currently owns the rights to over ten of the original THQ's franchises, including Darksiders and Red Faction. It has also had ownership of the THQ brand since 2014, enabling such a shift in branding.
