Nordic Games Changes Name to THQ Nordic

Game publisher Nordic Games announced that it would be rebranding itself as THQ Nordic, as a show of support for the various THQ-related IPs currently under their control. "Those key brands will continue to shape our business in a meaningful way going forward, and THQ Nordic represents a core approach of doing much more than "owning" a highly competitive portfolio of IPs."

To the surprise of many, the company Nordic Games announced today that it would be reincorporating under a new name – THQ Nordic. This move, Nordic claimed in a press release, was made out of recognition for the many THQ intellectual properties they have owned since THQ's closure in 2013.

Nordic went on to emphasize their care and concern for the IPs at their disposal, stating:

"We cherish them, and align them with the very best development resources to expand upon them with the level of experience that communities and established fan bases expect and deserve."

At this time, THQ Nordic currently owns the rights to over ten of the original THQ's franchises, including Darksiders and Red Faction. It has also had ownership of the THQ brand since 2014, enabling such a shift in branding.
