Toby: The Secret Mine, process of making the painting on canvas, preparation for an exhibition

Here I begin the bunch of articles describing my preparation for the exhibition of the paintings, that was dedicated to the games that are currently in development. My main goal was to create another way of advertisement for those who want to try smth new form of presentation on game developers event, rather than stand, flyers, computers and roll-ups.

I will start with Toby: the secret Mine and this is how the developer, Lukas Navratil, describes his product, :

A puzzle platformer inspired by games like Limbo or Nihilumbra. The peaceful way of life in a small village in the mountains was thrown into disorder. Someone has kidnapped most of its residents. A couple of brave hearts tried to rescue their friends but none of them has returned. Little Toby didn’t want to just sit and wait so he decided to find them by himself. He has entered the nearest deep forest only to realize that this is just the beginning.

To be able to understand, what is the main point of the game, I have completed few levels all in different color schemes and settings. After short discussion with the developer I have got a permission to pick whatever setting I like and embody it in oil :)

First comes the scetch.

But I have deicide to go a little bit further and remake it in different colors.

Unfortunately I don't have photos of process, mainly because it is not easy to make break and go take a camera with your dirty hands only to press a button. But here is the final version of acrylic and oil.
