Noob, Shang Tsung Among Four Revealed for Mortal Kombat 11
This past week has been an exciting time for Mortal Kombat 11. At the weekly Kombat Kast on Wednesday, March 20th, they showed off a trailer for Kotal Kahn and Jacqui BriggsKotal was first seen in the new story trailer and Jacqui was seen in the same trailer with a render of her seen shortly after. Kotal was a new major character introduced back in Mortal Kombat X, and featured very heavy aztec concepts in his design and moveset. He keeps a lot of his same moves and themes, but they now added attacks where he turns into a jaguar and attacks the opponent. More attacks include using his large paddle-like blade, and special moves where his totem enhances his attacks, and further uses for his sun powers.

Jacqui Briggs was another character introduced in Mortal Kombat X as part of the new protagonist group. She's the daughter of Mortal Kombat veteran Jax, and was a more divisive new character in Mortal Kombat X. Thankfully, they did revamp her design and moveset to stand out more. While she still has a "tech" inspired moveset, she now uses many Muay Thai related strikes as well as utilizing force fields either on the ground over widespread areas or making thin square-shaped vertical barriers. Jacqui uses the latter in the fatality they showed off with her where she splits the opponent down the middle.

Later in the week, there was a panel for Mortal Kombat 11 at the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expowhere members of Netherealm Studios discussed the making of the gameThey also revealead story snippets as well as characters. The first character they showed a trailer for was fan-favorite returning-character Noob SaibotHe now sports a more "ghoulish" appearance as well as voice, and his shadow now has a completely different look than him, more fitting of his classic ninja look. Noob's moveset is an evolved version of his Mortal Kombat (2011) moveset, utilizing his shadow and portal attacks, as well as a sickle that he and the shadow pull out of their own body. His fatality is once again gut-wrenching cinema (pun intended), where he slices the opponent's guts open with his sickles, leaks his shadow into the opening, and then his shadow rips the opponent in half down the middle from the inside. The trailer also showed off a new stage that takes place in a factory in which Lin Quei cyborgs are created.

Lastly, another trailer was shown off revealing The Krypt mode, which has been a mainstay since Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, in which the player goes through catacombs unlocking characters, costumes, concept art, etc. with currency. The trailer featured an unamed character as well as another fan-favorite returning character, Shang Tsungwho will act as a guide for The KryptIt was also revealed that he will be the first DLC character, as well as being portrayed in both voice and face by Cary Togawawho played Shang Tsung in the original Mortal Kombat movie, as well as the web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

The roster is shaping up nicely with 18 characters confirmed (Counting DLC slots Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung), as well as the online beta available later this week on March 28th, for those that pre-ordered the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Only one month left until the game comes out on April 23rd.
