6 of the Best Legendary Cards in Hearthstone

Do you need to beef up your Hearthstone decks? One or two new legendary cards can give your decks a substantial boost. The list below includes six of the best legendary cards in Hearthstone.

6 of the Best Legendary Cards in Hearthstone

Legendary is the highest card category in Hearthstone. As such, the best legendaries are also the among the very best cards in Hearthstone. However, you’ll need 1,600 Arcane Dust to craft a legendary card. So players need to disenchant quite a few cards to add new legendaries to decks. These are six great legendary cards to craft for your decks.

Lich King

Lich King

Lich King is neutral card that fits within most deck types, be it control, aggro or mid-range decks. It is a well-balanced 8/8 card that you play for eight mana. Lich King is also a very strong Taunt minion that might survive on the board for three or more turns depending on
what your opponent has in play.

However, the great thing about Lich King is primarily the random Death Knight cards it generates. Lich King adds a Death Knight to your hand at the end of each turn. Then you can play some of these great cards:

  • Death and Decay (deals three damage to all enemies)
  • Frostmourne (a 5/3 weapon that summons every minion it wipes out)
  • Death Coil (deals five damage to enemy or restores five health)
  • Anti-Magic Spell (gives minions +2/+2 and ensures they can’t be targeted by spells)

Deathstalker Rexxar

Deathstalker is a Hunter-class card that you can add to Rexxar’s deck. This is a hero card that enables players to add new minion cards to their hand. Players can merge two Beast minions together from a choice of three alternative cards (six in total). Therefore, Deathstalker Rexxar is a card with tremendous flexibility as it enables players to generate new minions with effects that their decks otherwise lack. For example, players with decks that lack Poisonous minions can add Poisonous cards to their hands with Deathstalker.

Deathstalker Rexxar also gives your hero five armor. Furthermore, the card has a Battlecry effect that inflicts two damage on each minion your opponent has on the board. Thus, that Battlecry can potentially wipe out four or five minions with low health values on a single turn.

Bloodreaver Gul’dan

Some players rate Bloodreaver Gul’dan the best legendary card in Hearthstone. This is a Warlock-class hero card that costs 10 mana to play. The card’s Battlecry summons all friendly Demon minions lost during a match. Thus, this is great card for decks packed with Demon cards as it can summon up to seven of them in single turn, which can provide a decisive board swing in your favor.

Furthermore, Bloodreaver also gives you a terrific Siphon Life hero power. That inflicts three damage and restores three health to your hero thanks to its Lifesteal effect. So Bloodreaver might still be worth including in your deck even if it doesn’t pack in lots of Demon minions.

Genn Greymane

Genn Greymane is one of two neutral legendary cards in Hearthstone that introduced new odd and even deck types in 2018. This is one of the best legendaries because it reduces the hero powers for all classes from two to one mana at the start of a match. Thus, players can play their hero powers for just one mana so long as all the cards in their decks are those with even mana values, such as 0, two, four, six, eight, etc.

Aside from that, Genn Greymane is a 6/5 minion that you can play for six mana. Those attack and health values aren’t too bad for a six-mana minion. However, it isn’t really worth including Genn in decks with odd cards as it doesn’t provide any other effect. Nevertheless, a one-mana hero power can give you a notable advantage when playing a deck with even cards.

Leeroy Jenkins

Leeroy Jenkins has long since been a popular card choice in Hearthstone primarily because of its devastating burst potential. This is a five-mana card that can inflict six damage on the turn you play it thanks to its Charge effect. Players love this card as it has so much combo potential. For example, with a Shadowstep card players can remove Leeroy from the board after attacking with it; and then play the minion for a second time on the same turn to inflict up to 12 damage.

The only drawback is that Jenkins summons two Whelps for the other player. Your opponent can take out Leeroy on the next turn with those minions. However, you can easily wipe out those Whelps with a couple of low-mana rush minions or a card such as Fan of Knives.

Baku the Mooneater

Baku the Mooneater is another neutral legendary that has changed Hearthstone with a new type of deck. This nine-mana card upgrades hero powers at the start of matches for decks that only include cards with odd mana values, such as one, three, five, etc. It provides a great boost that effectively doubles the value of many of the hero powers. For example, Paladin’s upgraded Silver Hand hero power summons two 1/1 minions instead of one. If your deck doesn’t include many even cards, this is definitely a legendary card in Hearthstone to go for.

Baku the Mooneater is also a 7/8 minion. However, those aren’t especially high attack and health values for a nine-mana minion. Note that it also falls within the Beast category, so the card’s minion might be of greater value in Hunter-class decks that include more synergy cards for Beasts.

So take your pick from those great legendary cards in Hearthstone. Those are six legendaries that can give players a decisive advantage in Hearthstone matches. In addition to those, Zilliax, King Krush, Dr. Boom and Prince Keleseth are a few other legendaries worth noting.
