Fortnite: Battle Royale 10 More Essential Slangs & Phrases
Fortnite: Battle Royale has become a worldwide phenomenon, attracting players of all ages across all platforms. While players can enjoy the game on solo mode, it’s often much more fun playing with friends or random players across the world. With that said, communicating properly with teammates is key to winning most games. Like many online games, certain slangs or phrases are unique to Fortnite and often used throughout the game. Here are 10 more of those Fortnite essential phrases.

Heavy

Refers to the heavy shotgun. Ever since the pump shotgun was nerfed(significantly reduced amount of damage) heavy shotguns have become the close range weapon of choice for most players. Heavy shotguns now are the most powerful shotguns in the game. They do the most damage but at the same time, they are only available in epic(purple) and legendary(gold) rarities. Thus, they have become the most sought after shotguns in the game.

Half-pod/Half-pot

Refers to half-potions which recover 50% of the player’s shield. Knowing this phrase is important when teammates are sharing healing items. Sharing potions and making sure everyone has the maximum amount of health and shield is an important part of playing in a squad. It’s much better to have 4 players at 100 health than 1 player at full health and shield and the rest one-shot from being knocked down.

Tags/tagged

Refers to hitting or getting hit. Saying you tagged an enemy means one or more of your shots hit them but they are not knocked down. Communicating this may seem trivial, but it lets players know that an enemy is weak and it may be time to push. Furthermore, once you tag an enemy you can notice whether or not they have shields.

Lit

Telling your teammates that an opponent is lit means you had multiple tags on them. Generally speaking, this means that either the enemy player is now one shot or at most two shots away from being downed. Again, letting players know that an opponent is lit tells them it’s time to push or at least focus their fire on them.

Tac

Refers to the tactical shotgun. The tactical shotgun is desired because of its rapid fire rate and high damage at close range. Much like the heavy shotgun, the popularity of the tactical shotgun rose exponentially after the pump shotgun was nerfed in a recent update. Tactical shotguns are better for those who aren’t so confident in their aim at close range. If a teammate says they have a tac for you it means they are offering you a shotgun.

Shrooms

Refers to the mushrooms which have been recently added to the game. Mushrooms can be found normally around trees and heavily wooded areas. They recover a player’s shield at the rate of 5 shield points per mushroom. They can be especially useful when you just need to top off 15 shield points or less and don’t want to waste a potion.

Tubes/tubing

Tubes is derived from the “noob tube” weapon in the game, officially known as the grenade launcher. Tubes refer to the ammo for the grenade launcher or grenades which have been shot from the grenade launcher. Therefore if a teammate says “tubes” it likely means that there are grenades coming towards you and you should build around yourself immediately or keep moving. If a player says they’re tubing then it means they are firing grenades at an enemy and maybe you should push.

Bolt

Refers to the bolt-action sniper rifle. The bolt is the strongest sniper rifle in the game. It has the highest damage and the ability to knock down enemies in a single headshot.

No-Skin

When people refer to other players as a no-skin, it means they have a generic avatar and literally have no skin on their character. Some players call out enemies as a no-skin simply just so their teammates know what enemy they are referring to. Other times, however, players with no skin are generally thought to be lesser players. Why? Because people can get skins by completing challenges and gaining experience in the game.

However, many people forget the 2nd option, which is to simply fork over your cash and pay for the skins outright. Usually, this is often the case and skins don’t always relate to skill.

Bots

Bots is a derogatory term used to insult players who aren’t very skilled at the game. In many shooting games, sometimes servers have the option to use bots to even out numbers on teams. Obviously, bots are controlled by programmed AI and thus don’t have much flexibility and skill in general compared to average players. If a teammate calls an enemy a bot, it means they will be an easy elimination.
