Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot will be an exclusively VR title. Although it’s fairly clear that PlayStation VR users can expect a release, the realm of PC is a little unclear. Bethesda’s own press site confirms the game will recieve PC support although it is unclear whether it will come HTC Vive, Oculus Rift or both. If it’s anything to go by, HTC Vive did retweet Bethesda’s announcement of Cyberpilot.
Bethesda has also released a small snippet of information to press regarding the setting and gameplay elements to expect. “Paris. 1980. You’re the best hacker in town. Your mission: Aid the French resistance by taking control of powerful Nazi war machines. Ram, gun down, and burn your way through the City of Love, leaving dead Nazis in your wake. Saddle up, Cyberpilot, you’re one of us now.”
Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot appears to be a departure from all things Blazkovicz as we’ll be getting an insight on how the French are fighting back, far from decimated United States of the main story. As a VR game, players should expect to take control of Nazi warmachines and turn them on their masters. This will all be developed by Wolfenstein devs, Machine Games, which is a great sign as they’ve always had a good grip on delivering solid gameplay mechanics and smooth performance across the board. This will be their first foray however, into building a VR title.
No word yet on a release date; only that Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot is expected to release some time in 2019.
