Why Black Panther is a special film

Black Panther is a truly special film. It brings something new to the table within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From its three dimensional villain to its amazing soundtrack and visuals, this is one of the best superhero films to date.

Is Black Panther a special film?
Black Panther has been out for more than a week now. After three viewings of the film, I truly believe this is one of my favorite films of all time. Almost topping The Dark Knight for me which is very rare considering I love Batman and Christopher Nolan's amazing trilogy. At this point, Marvel Studios just doesn't know how to put out a mediocre film. They have this perfect formula with their films that makes them so emotional, funny, and pleasing to watch. You always want to find out how the story will progress and lead into the next. There's so much that's added to the universe and it excites you more when you get amazing post-credit scenes to lead into the next film and what's to come. While I won't go into spoilers since it's still pretty early and I'm sure a lot of people haven't scene it yet. I will be discussing why I think the film is so special.

Black Panther is the first black mainstream comic-book character. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the Black Panther, also known as T'Challa, is the protector of Wakanda. Following the events of Captain America: Civil War, he is forced to take the mantle of King after the death of his father T'Challa. This puts a lot of pressure on him as he feels that he is not ready for it. It gets even more complicated when he's challenged by those who do not believe he is worthy.

The film does a great job at testing your morality with the introduction of the films villain, Killmonger. He has motives that while somewhat insane, actually have good points. By the end of the film he is extremely well developed and will most likely become one of the most memorable characters in the MCU. It'll be interesting to see the impact this leaves on future Marvel villains. Killmonger definitely stands out as much as villains such as Loki and Vulture.

The film feels a lot different than other Marvel films and that's why I think it's so special. It explores a culture that's very fascinating combined with super-heroes and futuristic technology. It's definitely worth a watch, even a second viewing in IMAX. The soundtrack is definitely meant to be heard on good speakers and stands out a lot in IMAX.

Killmonger is Marvels best antagonist so far.
