Respawn Teams Up With Oculus For A Secret Project

The Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment announced a partnership with Oculus to be 'now in the open'. There are very few details about what exactly it is supposed to result in; most obvious being that it is a game developed for a VR hardware. One thing is clear — it will be neither a Star Wars game nor a Titanfall title.

The teaser reveals that the project aims for a 2019 release and is promised to be a 'first-combat combat experience'. In a video dedicated to the developing project Respawn claims it wants to present being a soldier and fighting as one 'in a more fully fleshed out and realistic way'. Speaking of the chosen format, Vince Zampella, CEO and co-founder of the studio, says that VR is a technology that will make this experience more personal and intense due to being 'more visceral, more terrifying'.

Given that Oculus is working on a stand-alone and less restricting headset, this collaboration may produce a more dynamic and movement-tethered VR experience. The documentary footage may suggest that, unlike Titanfall, this game will be inspired by a real conflict or war.
