Destiny 2 PS4 Open Beta Early Access Is Free In Asia

PS4 players interested in Bungie's Destiny 2 open beta can play early without pre-ordering the game. Since the 4th quarter of 2016, PlayStation Asia has consistently pleased gamers with their unique PS Plus free game offerings. Now, PS Asia has a great treat for everyone interested in the Destiny 2 open beta.

Destiny 2 PS4 Open Beta Early Access Is Free In Asia
Unlike other countries, PlayStation Asia doesn't require gamers to pre-order Destiny 2 to get early beta access. First announced on PlayStation Asia's Facebook page, since July 14, pre-download for the Destiny 2 open beta client has been available for everyone with an Asian PlayStation Network account. This makes them eligible to take part in both single-player campaign and multiplayer matches come July 18 at 10am PDT.

On the other hand, pre-ordering Destiny 2 is required to get early beta access in other regions. Early beta access starts July 18 for PS4 and July 19 for Xbox One at 10am PDT, while public beta access starts on July 21 at 10am PDT. PC players are the last to try the beta test, which is scheduled sometime in late August.

Before gamers rush to create an Asian PSN account, they should bear in mind that a PS Plus subscription is required for Destiny 2's multiplayer modes. As stated by Bungie on Twitter, the Homecoming story mission is available to all, while a PS Plus subscription is required to access the Crucible and Strike modes.

Creating a PlayStation Asia account is easy and shouldn't be confused with PSN Japan, which is considered as a separate entity. Carrying countries with many English speakers such as Philippines and Singapore, PS Asia hosts games with English texts and audio. Even the application page and PS Store is in English.

Since the latter half of 2016, PS Asia has been eyed by the PS4 community for its unique PS Plus lineup. For several months now, PS Asia has given away an additional PS Plus free game to its subscribers. Here's the extra free games PS Asia has given away since last year:

  • Gravity Rush Remastered (in celebration of Tokyo Game Show 2016)
  • Tales of Zestiria (in celebration of Taipei Game Show 2017)
  • God of War 3 Remastered (Lunar New Year freebie)
  • Just Cause 3 (in celebration of PS Plus 7th anniversary)
  • Darksiders 2 (no reason stated)

Destiny 2 will officially launch on September 6 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. For more about the game, make sure to check KeenGamer.
