Red Dead Redemption 2 Might Be The Best Open-World Game Ever

The gorgeous Wild West already stole people's mind last time. And I believe this time, Rockstar's open-world cowboy setting will blow everyone out.

What follows is a pure opinion from the author and does not represent the view(s) from anyone else on Keen Gamer.

Rockstar Games' main objective is to blow everyone out with their titles. With series like Grand Theft Auto, LA Noire, and the great Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar Games' titles are on the purchase list of every gamer.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be out this fall and I believe it will be the best and the most beautiful open-world adventure you will be ever playing. Read on to find out why.

Past entries from rockstar games

When we look at each of the titles from Rockstar Games, they simply outweigh every game that acts as a competition to them. Let's say, for example, was there any better land than the gorgeous Los Santos on PS3 or on Xbox 360? No other developer were able to take advantage of the last-gen systems as well as Rockstar did. Playing GTA 5 was simply like playing a next-gen game at that time.

GTA 5 was built on the same RAGE engine which was used to build Red Dead Redemption for the last-gen systems. Still, it looked as better as other open-world games meant for current-gen consoles. When GTA 5 got ported to PC, PS4 and Xbox One, it looked even better. Playing it on 4K at max settings is the best treat a game can give us. As well as Red Dead Redemption, which released for Xbox 360 and PS3 on 2010, featured a beautiful and diverse Western frontier with horses to ride and mobs to be captured of.

Every game Rockstar released felt like next-gen titles at that time. So with their new engine and for consoles like Xbox One Scorpio and PS4 Pro, they could do magic. Take a look at the trailer to see how beautiful RDR 2 is.

Multiple characters?

Rockstar Games' last entry featured three protagonists, each with their own lifestyle and things to attend to. Switching back and forth Michael, Franklin and Trevor was joyous. But will Red Dead Redemption 2 feature the same? We don't know yet officially, but we can assume greatly. The cover art for RDR 2 feature seven characters (or cowboys?) and we may be able to switch between them. 2004's Red Dead Revolver had multiple playable characters, so there is a possibility.

If at all there will be multiple characters to play with, then the map would be quite large enough to fit these guys in. The map was already rumored to be leaked and the 'leaked' version is too large compared to the last Red Dead.

As for the protagonist of the first Red Dead Redemption, John Marston could make a cameo role, as RDR 2 will be a prequel (official announcement) and Marston always comments about his younger-mob years in his conversations.

New Online Experience

Rockstar games promised their fans that RDR 2 will feature a new online experience. If it is what it really is, then GTA Online type of multiplayer part will be there to enjoy on RDR 2. Due note that, GTA Online is still providing salaries for Rockstar employees, even after four years from launch. So Rockstar won't miss another chance with RDR 2. GTA Online is one of the best ways to enjoy online co-op or PvP with your gaming buddies. Rob a shop, or partake a race, or why not act as a CEO, or a President of your Motorcycle Club, or even both? Everything (or mostly everything) is available in GTA Online. Such a multiplayer mode in Red Dead Redemption 2 will be too great. Please do not expect that 'CEO' thing in RDR 2 (you know what I mean.)

RDR 2 will release this fall. There have been some rumors that the release date is on October 3.

I am surprised to see that it took years before a studio tries to launch itself in MMO version in a world as fascinating as the western! Sincerely I am curious to see the result.

I think Rockstar would need to dramatically step up their game to even compete with games like The Witcher 3 or Zelda BotW. Unfortunately I wont be able to judge it as RDR2 is not coming for PCs.
