Rumor: Super Smash Bros. For Switch Arriving Fall 2017

According to CPSIA certificates for amiibos on Nintendo's official webpage, the upcoming release of Cloud, Bayonetta, Corrin, and a new unannounced DLC character may indicate that the popular fighting game may see another port in time for its three-year anniversary.

Rumor: Super Smash Bros. For Switch Arriving Fall 2017
During a recent interview with Katie Linendoll via Facebook livestream, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime strongly hinted that the company will be releasing a Super Smash Bros. for the Switch.

"There's gonna be one great Super Mario experience, there's gonna be great Zelda experience, so you can anticipate at some point in the future, who knows when, that all of our franchises will be addressed. We know that the fans love these games, so stay tuned."

Though this is to be expected at this point from the house of Mario, what fans may not expect is for the newest iteration in the esteemed fighting game franchise to be arriving later this year.

On Nintendo's official webpage there can be found CPSIA certificates with corresponding product numbers and descriptions on each amiibo in existence. As the page is consistently updated when new certificates are acquired, they aren't indicative of when each amiibo received their initial certificate. This type of information can be gleaned, however, through Wayback Machine.

Upon comparison and inspection, it can be found that the usual time from certification to release is around 60 days. As one can see from the data, each series maintained an identifier using the first two letters of the item number: AK for Legend of ZeldaAQ for Fire Emblem, and AA for Super Smash Bros.

Cloud, Bayonetta, and Corrin were previously announced to be released in 2016, but were delayed for unknown reasons. As indicated by the letters, the fourth unknown amiibo points to there being a new Super Smash Bros. DLC character.

As stated earlier, amiibo release times from the original certificate date are approximately 60 days later. Though Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta might all be released two months from now, they could be delayed further for a combined release with the Nintendo Switch Super Smash Bros. port this fall.

Super Smash Bros. released three years ago for Wii U and 3DS, so the timing would be perfect considering the game's anniversary.

What do you think of this? Could a port of the highly popular title really be coming this year? At the very least, could fans really see a new DLC character announced for the title? Let us know in the comments below!
