Three things we hope The Last of Us 2 brings back

The Last of Us Part 2 is going to be great, but what do we really want to see returning from the first game? The Last of Us was masterfully done and with Naughty Dog's track record, The Last of Us Part 2 will be just as good. Regardless of what happens, there are a few things we really want to see again!

Three things we hope TLOU2 brings back
The Last of Us offered an experience to gamers that truly was a breath of fresh air. Engaging story, satisfying gunplay, and a deep character bond were the key elements that held the game together, and something we will undoubtedly see in the next installment The game also had some other features which, whilst not the main focus, provided a truly enjoyable experience. These are three of the things that we would love to see return to The Last of Us Part II.

1. Photo mode

Photo mode is a godsend. The Last of Us was a beautiful game and the introduction of the Photo Mode allowed players to capture images of some of the most memorable scenes in the game. Perhaps not the most useful tool for the average player, but for photography enthusiasts and Youtubers, this tool meant streamlined ability to take unique and stunning images of an already great looking game.

There is a pretty high chance that this feature could return in The Last of Us Part II. Another Naughty Dog title, Uncharted 4, has this same Photo Mode, and is just as great in that game. The developers clearly like this feature in their games, and two of their most successful titles have had it, which means that we will almost definitely see its return in The Last of Us Part II.

The Last of Us Part II will hopefully have a Photo Mode

2. Tommy

Tommy was a truly interesting character in The Last of Us. Introduced to us at the start of the game and seen again much later on, he is interesting in that we miss a huge chunk of what actually happened between him and Joel. Whilst The Last of Us Part II isn't a prequel of any sort, it opens up another chance for Naughty Dog to fill in some of the gaps with Joel and Tommy. We know that they both ran with the same groups for a while until some form of disagreement drove them apart.

Tommy and Joel are great characters and had some truly wonderful chemistry. They are the perfect dichotomy of eachother, with Joel being closed, uncaring and rejecting of the past, and Tommy being open,  loving to his people, and embracing of the past with his brother. With the opportunity for new character development and especially considering the ending scene of The Last of Us, there is a good possibility we might just see the return of Tommy.

The Last of Us 2 could see the return of Tommy

3. FACTIONS

We've saved the best for last. Factions was a truly wonderful experience when The Last of Us released. The game mode was very popular but rarely publicised meaning that a lot of player, including myself, only realized there was a multiplayer game mode after purchasing the game.

Factions is a deep, intricate and skillful multiplayer experience. Three different game modes within Factions allow you to engage in intense third person shooter action for either the Fireflies or the Hunters to attain supplies to sustain your own camp of survivors. This meta game aspect means everybody is trying to win, because if they don't, they could potentially lose all of their people. This meta game also gives in-game cosmetic rewards, gifting players for their hard work and giving a goal to those yet to reach the pinnacle of success.

Factions was a massive hit and allowed for a massively diverse amount of playstyles. With the success of Uncharted 4's multiplayer, there is also a very good chance that Factions will return

Do you agree with our list? What do you want to see return in The Last of Us Part II? Have your say in the comments below.

I agree. I didnt use photo mode but it was a nice addition to the game.

I think a DLC or side story would be nice that shows Joel and Tommy at the start of the infection surviving together. A bit like left behind showed Ellie and Riley together.

Factions MP was brilliant and my favourite multiplayer of all time. It is the only multiplayer I play anymore as I mainly play linear story games these days.

I hope that we arent disappointed with this sequel, I have wanted it for so long 😀
