Pure Chess - Grandmaster Edition release and Twitch event
Liverpool, September 12, 2016 – more than 6,000 people took to the front page of Twitch last Friday to play Ripstone's Pure Chess Grandmaster Edition against British Chess Grandmaster Simon Williams – and after a couple of stumbles, the Twitch chat managed to beat Williams in an intense game.

The Twitch vs Pure Chess Grandmaster event ran for four hours (can be watched below) on September 9, and saw Twitch viewers entering chess commands into the Twitch chat to vote on the moves to make against Williams.

Williams finally took the first game after a fierce two-hour bout, with the chat very close to taking the victory multiple times. The Grandmaster then secured a second win against the chat, this time completely blindfolded and relying on Ripstone's Mike Rose to read the moves out to him, and using his memory to visualize the board.

However, the mentally fatigued Williams eventually succumbed to the Twitch chat and was forced to relinquish the victory during the third match, when it became clear that he could no longer turn the tide in his favor.

This meant that the thousands of people watching the stream won themselves Steam codes for a random Ripstone game. You can watch the full replay on Twitch below:
