Descent: Underground - playable at Gamescom
Сologne, Germany – August 16, 2016 – In Razer's Open-Source Virtual Reality (OSVR) booth, Descent: Underground is turning heads at the influential RESPAWN gathering of game developers in the days leading up to the massive Gamescom tradeshow. Last week, Descent: Underground became the first high-end action title to natively support all of the major desktop VR headsets: OSVR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift.

“From day one, we knew that Descent: Underground would be the best game to test the limits of VR,” said Descendent Studios' CEO, Eric “Wingman” Peterson. “We chose to support every headset because our game can really push the envelope- one of our players even described the game as ‘a greased bunny on speed’! Descent: Underground is quite simply the most extreme game out there!”

Visitors to the OSVR booth at Gamescom will be able to test out Descent: Underground on the new OSVR Hacker Development Kit 2 (HDK2) headset for themselves. Interested gamers should plan to arrive early as VR demos of the game led to hour-plus lines at the Rooster Teeth Expo (RTX) and South-by-Southwest (SXSW) conventions. Gamescom runs from August 17 to 21.

The Early Access version of Descent: Underground is available at the official website, Steam, and other online resellers. The game already features a number of multiplayer competitive and cooperative game modes, among them a new horde-style “Survival” mode, and a tongue-in-cheek capture-the-flag mode called “Miner Mayhem”. Recent updates also added European server support and a first pass at the technology to enable ship customization.

Players take on the role of celebrity pilots commanding combat spacecraft in high-stakes battles for control of warren-like asteroid mines. Descent: Underground was one of 2015’s most successful Kickstarter projects and is scheduled for release later this year on PC, Mac, and Linux. More information is available on the company’s website at the official site.
