Faux-Operative Games

was founded by friends Daniel Crockenberg and Charles Webb in 2015 for the purpose of making intense, fair, and uncompromising co-op mutliplayer games. Taking manic brawlers like Samurai Gunn and co-op dungeon crawlers like Nuclear Throne as inspiration, we are currently working on Ruin of the Reckless, a twin stick ‘fighter’ roguelike.

Description

History

Long before Faux-Operative Games was founded, Daniel Crockenberg and Charles Webb were already making games together. Their first was a rogue-lite traitor based board game called 'Faux-Operative' focusing on high tech secret agents infiltrating an underground research base. Although the game was popular within the local community, they soon realized that they did not have the funds or the reach to publish a board game of such large scope, and decided to return to the project later if they ever had the resources to make it real.

Instead, they decided to leverage their previous coding experience, having each studied it during their academic careers, and begin making video games. Their first two video games; 'Wizard Fight' and 'Dragon Edge' were eventually scrapped; found not to meet the high standards necessary to be worthy of a public release.

However, when they began showcasing their next title "Ruin of the Reckless", the reaction was overwhelmingly enthusiastic and positive. Realizing they were on to something, they soon founded Faux-Operative Games and began working in earnest to make it the best game it could possibly be. On August 18th, 2016 Ruin of the Reckless launched to Kickstarter. 9 days later the project was 112% funded.
