is focused on setting the laws and morals for hundreds of survivors in a moody and haunting post-apocalyptic city. It is a new indie game developed by Far Road Games.
Atomic Society is a city-building game with a unique moral choice system, set in a "Fallout"- inspired world. Atomic Society is also inspired by such games as SimCity, The Sims and Tropico but adds in the ability to choose the laws and morals of the people.
Atomic Society is focused on setting the laws and morals for hundreds of survivors in a moody and haunting post-apocalyptic city.
You play as a government official who survived WWIII in a bunker. You were trained to be a "society-builder", a person who can establish a thriving community in the wasteland. When the radiation fades, you are sent out with a small team to build a settlement.
But the ideology you bring to this job is entirely up to you.
Your overall goal is to build up a large, sustainable population and have a high leadership rating. But as you do this, the game offers a mixture of ethical issues that will visibly unfold around you and modify how you play.
The issues include a mix of controversial, real-world issues and more entertaining, humorous ones. You will need to make decisions on topics ranging from murder and xenophobia to racism and celebrity culture.
Each issue has 4 solutions, based on the differing political views of the people in your town. Every outcome you select creates new challenges.
For example, murders are being committed in your town.
Will you execute the murderers and end more lives?
- Exile them, though some might come back with violent friends later on?
- Re-educate the killers, though they might be bluffing and see this as a soft punishment?
- Lock them up for life, but you’ll need more prison space?
And so on with the other issues. Whatever you pick will affect how you play. All behaviours are constantly unfolding in an unscripted way.
The city-building aspect of the game features 34 unique buildings to make. There are multiple ways to provide for the core needs of your people. Each structure you build has pros and cons.
We have also implemented a leader mode, that lets you control a character and explore your town up close. In this mode, you can do numerous tasks to make your town more efficient, such as help speed up construction or loot abandoned ruins, or even arrest criminals.
