Fans of the Assassin’s Creed franchise will be surprised to see a year without a new Assassin’s Creed title. Ubisoft announced they want to “re-examine” the franchise. Ubisoft also talked about the new Assassin’s Creed movie coming out this December and the Watch Dog’s sequel.

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate will be the last AC game for a while

Gamers have enjoyed a new Assassin’s creed game or DLC every year since the original launched in 2007. The Assassin’s Creed series took the gaming world by storm with its massive and beautifully crafted cities and terrain, immersive stories, exciting combat, and emphasis on stealth. Every game thus far has featured new areas, weapons, characters, missions and assassin targets in the constant war with the Templars. From the crusades to the American Revolution to the Industrial Era, the Assassin’s Creed’s franchise is substantial and has enormous support from its fans.

So, we are certain that fans were shocked upon hearing that Ubisoft announced that there will be no new Assassin’s Creed game in 2016, saying this year they’re “stepping back and re-examining the Assassin’s Creed franchise. As a result, we’ve decided that there will not be a new Assassin’s Creed game in 2016.” Ubisoft goes on to say they’re working tirelessly to make Assassin’s Creed a “premier open-world franchise”. While this news may be disappointing to some, we can’t help but admire everything Ubisoft has done in the past and we can anticipate great things from them in the future.Michael Fassbender take the lead in new Assassin’s Creed movie

It’s not all bad news however! Ubisoft went into a bit of detail about the Assassin’s Creed movie that will hit theaters December 21, 2016. Also, Watch Dogs sequel was announced to be released before the end of Ubisoft’s fiscal year on April 30, 2017. With an Assassin’s Creed movie, a new Watch Dogs game and the upcoming release of Farcry Primal, Ubisoft has given us plenty to be excited for.
