A map for the next game in the Red Dead series has been leaked. A follow-up to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption, developed by Rockstar, has been rumored for quite some time. The image was initially posted on the gaming forum NeoGaf but was removed shortly after.
Techradar reached out to Rockstar and reported the map was in fact real, according to a “source close to the development…” They also confirmed that the game will be set before the events of Redemption. Whether or not it’s a direct prequel is unclear right now.
The game will take place on the eastern side of the map. Railroads are not present in the image, despite playing a large role in Redemption. However, “railroad” does appear in the map’s key. Another interesting thing to note is the appearance of New Bordeaux, a location that appears Mafia 3, which is published by Take-Two Interactive the same year.
